University Teacher: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Oliver Speck
The Department Biomedical Magnetic Resonance (BMMR) has been established in 2007 with the appointment of Oliver Speck. The department is part of the Institute for Physics (IfP) within the Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNW) at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg and located on the Campus of the Faculty for Medicine (FME). The primary reason for the establishment of the department was the acquisition and installation of the very first 7T ultra-high field magnetic resonance system for human applications in Europe by the Otto-von-Guericke-University and the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology (LIN). The BMMR works in close collaboration with the LIN and the Department of Neurology II. Within this cooperation and the joint operation of the 7T system the BMMR is responsible for the methodological aspects of research projects and aims to further develop MR-methodology for high and ultra-high field applications.
